If you have you ever wanted to create a unique piece of jewellery come and enjoy a relaxing day in the Craft Barn creating your very own jewellery from Art Clay Silver. Make some truly original silver jewellery that you can wear home at the end of the day!

Spend the day immersing yourself in learning a new skill with guest tutor Jo Richards of Faye Benjamin Jewellery. This workshop is suitable for beginners and those who wish to progress their skills further by adding a splash of colour after your work is fired.

During the day you will learn how to create your very own textures that can be used over again. Silver Clay can be cut, shaped and textured with ease and with a few techniques, in just one day, you can turn Silver Clay from a squishy little lump into solid silver. It really is amazing and for this workshop only, elevate your designs further by adding a splash of colour!

Silver Clay is a wonderful way to create your own unique pendant, charm or drop earrings – depending on the size of your pieces there is usually enough for more than one go! Make a pendant or two, or a pendant and a pair of drop earrings, some people will make bracelet charms – the choice is yours!

The skills you learn in this workshop will enable you to continue creating after you leave. The textures you create are yours to take away. The tutor will have starter kits available to purchase if you wish to make more at home.

No previous experience is required however, for those who have previous experience of working with Silver Clay, this workshop allows you to be more creative and develop further skills.

Cost: £85 to include tuition, use of equipment, tea & coffee. There will be an additional cost of £50 for materials, including 10g of clay payable to the tutor on the day.
If you would like to finish your piece with a chain or ear wires there will be a selection available to buy or you are welcome to bring your own.

Please bring:
- glasses if you wear them
- an apron (not essential)
- lunch

Note: Working with Silver Clay is generally very safe. However, please take note of the following requirements for the day:
- Long hair must be tied back
- Don’t wear trailing scarves or anything fluffy as they are attracted to clay!
- Wear closed toe shoes

Tutor Biography:
Jo Richards BA (Hons) in Design & Technology from Southampton University. City and Guilds levels 2 and 3 in Jewellery Design & Silversmithing. Art Clay Diploma levels one and two, and recently a Higher Level Diploma in Art Clay. Member of the Association for Contemporary Jewellery and the Guild of Jewellery Designers.
Jo has been studying, designing, making and selling jewellery for over 25 years. Since 2006 she has concentrated mainly on working in Art Clay Fine Silver - a recycled silver which can be Assay hallmarked as 99.9% pure silver. Jo absolutely loves what she does and sharing her passion for Silver Clay makes her truly happy.

Note: The Craft Barn is accessed via external stone steps with handrails and unfortunately may not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues.
