You may have already tried Pyrography at home and not been pleased with the results. Join guest tutor Sharon of Maybug Studio for a fun day creating beautiful Pyrography at our beginner friendly workshop.

Sharon will guide you through what to do, what not to do, and the best bit......you don't need to be able to draw! The designs shown in the images are all created by beginners.

At this workshop you will be able to create a beautiful design on a chopping board, perfect as a charcuterie board, or on a wooden piece. You'll have the opportunity of adding colour and learn how do you enhance your pyrography and take it to the next level.

The easiest thing is to ‘work’ your piece more, better shading giving a better feel of texture and depth and using watercolour pencils or, you could start using pigments and flakes, gold leaf and coloured waxes.

At this workshop, you will:
- learn which woods to use (and more importantly which not to use)
- use a changeable wire tip pyrography pen to give a finer, more detailed picture compared to the solid tip style pen
- explore different techniques, with different tips, to give different effects
- choose a chopping board or other piece of beautiful wood as a base for your main piece
- if you wish, you will have the option of adding colour with watercolour pencils, add flakes, pigments or leaf to add colour that changes your design
- how to prepare the wood and how to finish once your design is complete

There will be plenty of inspiration on the day to help you with your design.

Cost: £75 includes tea & coffee, biscuits. There will be a selection of boards and platters available but there will be an addition cost on the day of £20 - £25, depending on what you choose and any enhanced materials you use.

Please bring: lunch.
If you have your own pyrography tool and prefer to use it, please bring it along.
