Full Event Information

Join guest tutor Natalie and produce an image of a bee or a bird using a variety of paper-based media.

You’ll be provided with everything you need and be shown a way of working with found paper images that helps you to reimagine them.

You’ll experience how the character of things, some detail or colour or texture torn from a magazine or a newspaper becomes something else when removed from its original context and placed in another. There’s no right or wrong way to collage but along the way but there are some things that will be shared with you, the best supports and glues and of course not all paper is the same.

About the Tutor -
Tutor Natalie best describes herself as a torn paper collage artist. Her subjects are drawn from nature and include detailed studies of bees, bugs, and birds alongside larger-scale compositions of sailing boats and people. Enjoying the (often accidental) effect that hidden imagery has on her work giving the pieces a dimension beyond that of the immediate image on the canvas. With collage, the more you look into a picture the more you see. It really is a fascinating medium and Natalie loves to share her artwork and the process.

£40 to include all materials, tea and coffee.

Please bring: Lunch and an apron. You will have a selection of papers to work with but please bring along something of your own such as an old magazine, map, envelope, catalogue etc. anything that offers colour, texture or text and you don’t mind it being cut up.

Cancellation deadline: 24th February
